Repairing rear window defogger for less than $1.

So this is real quick and cheap solution.
I guess it will work only if you have just few burnt spots of the defogger lines and it’s not completely trashed.
Make sure  everything else is fine, you got voltage, everything is connected etc.

How the whole thing works:
As you may guess, copper got really good conductivity properties. On the other hand the nail polish works as bonding compound.

What you’ll need:
– cutter
– transparent nail polish
– thick wire

1

Strip the wire

2

3

Leave 1/3 of the nail polish in the bottle

5

Use bench grinder to gather some copper dust from the already stripped wire.

6 7

Mix it with the nail polish.

8

9

I got arround some really small bearing balls, so i dropped couple in to improve the mixing procedure.

10 11

Now that’s the thing you should have.

12

Clean the rear window from inside.

14

This is how looks the damaged spot/area.

15

Use some tape to clear the perimeter.

16

And just apply the mixture over the damaged area.

17

Wait about an hour and remove the tape. Defogger should work fine.
It should hold up for around 6 months. It will need to be redone after some time for sure.
